The heart of the Clean Election Campaign is to encourage people to promise that they will not accept bribes nor vote for people who offer bribes. An effective way to do this is to design and distribute pledge forms which people can sign and then sent to the campaign so that the total number of pledges is recorded. The pledge used in a recent Kenyan CEC read as follows: MY PLEDGE TO GOD AND MY COUNTRY A LONGING to see the political storm fading on the Election Day, bringing a new day of healing and restoration. COMMITTED to seeing that right is done, people living straight and making this Nation Great and wanting to be a light that shows the way for all mankind. I PLEDGE THAT IN THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION:
I will not sell my vote whatsoever
I will not be part of any violence whatsoever
I will cast my vote to the best candidate possible irrespective of their tribes and status
I will expose any acts that may rig the elections and, or distort the election results
I will pray for God’s help in achieving my pledge
I MAKE THIS COMMITMENT of MY OWN FREE WILL for THE LOVE OF MY COUNTRY AND ITS PEOPLE.
