Hope in the Cities, in partnership with other citizen groups and individuals, seeks to build within Metropolitan Richmond the capacity of its citizens to overcome the inequalities and barriers that still separate us. We want to work together to strengthen excellence in education for the benefit of all children. We envision a Metropolitan Richmond community that asks: "What if every child were my child?"
The keynote speaker at this year's Metropolitan Richmond Day Community Breakfast will be john powell. powell is an internationally recognized authority in the areas of civil rights, civil liberties, and issues relating to race, ethnicity, poverty and the law. He taught at Columbia University School of Law, Harvard Law School, and others before he joined Ohio State University in 2002 as the executive director of the Kirwan Institute on Race and Ethnicity.
