Becoming a Catalyst for Change
Make a personal inventory of your attitude about people of other racial, cultural and religious backgrounds: who might you reach out to?
Host an informal dinner conversation in your home (see Open Homes, Open Hearts)
Review your personal priorities, use of resources and involvement with the community
Talk about these things with your family
Start a book discussion (see book list for suggested readings) with neighbors or friends at work
Invite a Hope in the Cities speaker to your place of worship or civic organization
Explore local sites related to racial/ethnic history or conduct your own personal research on unacknowledged history in your community
Organize a dialogue with a diverse group (call Hope in the Cities to ask for help in facilitation and for curriculum materials)
Get trained as a facilitator (check the website for scheduled training or call the office)
