"The history not transformed gets transferred..."

On 21-24 February 2013 'Ukrainian Action: Healing the Past' project team invites you to take part in the Dialogue Seminar 'Healing the Past', which will be taken on the far western part of Ukraine - on Zakarpattia (exact place to be defined soon).

We would like to spend a few days in the safe space, inviting our past to come to the present through our memories, thoughts, views, personal stories, and life experiences. We will be ready to grieve and cry, as well as to rejoice, shine with life, be brave to face the future, ready to be honest and sincere with ourselves and the others, so that our past can now or some time later release us for peace, joy, and love.

Participants: We are inviting representatives of national and ethnic communities of Zakarpattia, civil movements, organisations, enthusiasts, and active citizens who are interested in the subject matter.

Moderators: Diana Damsa, Anzhela Starovoitova, Oleh Ovcharenko.

Please, follow the link below http://goo.gl/Uk1hL to apply online by 9 February 2013 the latest (in Ukrainian only).

You would get confirmation about your participation by 14 February 2013 via email.

We are kindly inviting citizens of Ukraine with the age 18+ to submit their application forms. Exclusive requirement is a full four-day participation in all the events of the dialogue and keeping the rules adopted by all the participants.

Accommodation and meals will be fully covered by organizers. We ask you to cover your transportation expenditures by your own. If you need financial support to cover them, please, indicate about this in the application form.

The Dialogue is grounded on core principles:

  • to treat everyone with equal respect, honesty and integrity;
  • to seek what is right rather than who is right;
  • to face the history inevitably involves facing oneself;
  • to shape the future involves taking responsibility for the past.

The dialogue seminar is a part of the project 'Ukrainian Action: Healing the Past' which was started in 2010 by the team of allies of Foundations for Freedom, INGO supported by the Kerk in Actie-ICCO programme (Netherlands). The previous dialogues were taken in Crimea, Lviv and Kharkiv. It was a successful experience and we decided to organize the series of similar public dialogues in different regions of Ukraine.
