A Third Presence
An award winning journey of the spirit. This stirringly honest spiritual journey won a literary award in its original French edition from the prestigious Académie Française in Paris.
Hélène Guisan-Demetriades, along with her parents and siblings, were among those Greeks uprooted from Constantinople by the upheavals after the First World War. But she remains deeply rooted in her Orthodox faith, and in her country of adoption, Switzerland.
A mother and a home-maker, she reveals the tensions between home and family, and her ambitions to write. She invites in to her life-long journey with what she calls ‘a third presence’, with the tragedies and joys of life richly lived.
Her book has also been translated into Russian and Greek.
