How can I be certain that my online payment is safe?
How can I ensure that my personal details are not sent to third parties?
When I make a gift, will I automatically be placed on the IofC International mailing list?
Gifts to IofC International: IofC International is a Swiss-based not-for-profit organisation. In general, donations made directly to IofC International from outside Switzerland do not have tax-favoured status. It may be tax efficient, however, to make a donation via your country of residence (e.g., the USA). Do contact us if you are not sure.
Gifts to your own country: Donations allocated to IofC or an IofC programme in your country of residence may be tax deductible, or recoverable (e.g., the UK), in which case we will forward any details required, together with your allocated amount, to your national IofC team.
You will receive an acknowledgement of your donation that can be used as documentation of your payment. If you have made your donation online, you will receive this acknowledgement via email. If you have made your donation via bank transfer (wire), you will receive this acknowledgment in either postal mail or email, depending on your stated preference.
IofC International uses PayPal, an online payment system which ensures an optimum level of security. To prevent fraud, your data are encrypted and then transmitted automatically and directly to the credit card issuer, who processes the payment.
IofC International takes great care to protect the personal data of its donors. This data is stored confidentially, and will not be given to third parties without your permission. Please inform us if you do not wish your data to be stored.
You will be on our mailing list if you selected this option during the giving process. Your e-mail and/or postal address will be used for this purpose.
PayPal allows individuals to transfer funds electronically from one PayPal account to another. It's free to send money through PayPal, though the recipient is charged a fee to cash the payment. According to information we have, at time of writing, for transfers up to $3,000 USD, the charge is 2.9%, plus $0.30 per transaction. Fees decrease slightly for larger transactions. International transaction fees tend to be about 1% higher, and keep in mind that you'll be charged an exchange rate on transfers made in international funds. (Reference: Investopedia, 2011)
PayPal has various fee approaches to consider, which may vary by country. Using PayPal allows individuals who do not have credit cards to make a gift, using their own PayPal account. Finally, PayPal securely stores and encrypts all financial data, along with providing 24-hour security monitoring.
