This event is hosted by the Religious Studies Programme, School of Social and Cultural Studies, Victoria University of Wellington in collaboration with Initiatives of Change New Zealand.

Gerald Pillay

As President of Initiatives of Change International, Gerald Pillay calls upon citizens to 'become the vanguard of changemakers; to help with the healing of history and to be the honest brokers in addressing the predicament in which we find ourselves in an increasingly divided world.’

Gerald Pillay grew up in Durban, South Africa where he served in various senior leadership roles at the University of South Africa, the Human Sciences Research Council in Pretoria and later at the University of Otago, in New Zealand.

His role as Vice Chancellor of Liverpool Hope University UK for 20 years (2003 - Dec 2022) earned him an OBE for his contribution to Higher Education in the UK.
