Regional Conference of Foundations for Freedom 2019, Kyiv, Ukraine

Regional Conference of ‘Foundations for Freedom’ took part on 11-13, January 2019 in snowy Irpen’ in the outskirts of Kyiv (Ukraine). And it took place because of 75 participants from 8 countries.

Facilitators, Mediatrix Massava and Judith Mumbi (CoP Kenya) lit a candle on the last day of the training representing the light of peace in the world and passed it to the CoP Team in Tanzania so as to mark the reviving of the CoP Chapter in Tanzania

Asia Plateau, the Centre for Initiatives of Change in India, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018. As well as running national and international conferences and training programmes, Asia Plateau has roots in rural India. The work of Grampari, IofC’s rural development and ecology programme, sustains livelihoods and strengthens the resilience of the communities surrounding Asia Plateau. Run by a dedicated team, it is part of a global Initiatives of Change vision for 'land, lives and peace’. These photographs celebrate Asia Plateau's engagement at local level with issues of global significance.

Nepal Dialogue 2018

While attending the Caux Scholars Program-Asia Plateau in Panchgani, India, Keshab Dahal felt a strong conviction to commit volunteer time to the Initiatives of Change India Outreach Team and to spearhead an Initiatives of Change peacebuilding dialogue in Nepal--the first of its kind. After months of planning and promotion, the four-day dialogue was held at Dhulikhel, Nepal in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Geneva Peace Talks 2018, UN

The 6th edition of the Geneva Peace Talks, on 21 September 2018, had the theme of ‘Peace beyond Borders’. In previous years, Initiatives of Change has provided speakers, but this year it was asked to co-moderate the event. Initiatives of Change (IofC) has built up a bit of a reputation in international Geneva for doing events differently by focusing more on personal stories and offering opportunities for interpersonal connection and even (crazy as it may sound) silence.

Initiatives of Change (IofC) Nigeria, on the invitation of ‘God First Children International School’, Lagos, delivered a Creators of Peace Circle to the female staff of the school for three Fridays between 22 June and 6 July at the school premises.

Creators of Peace facilitators from Australia ran two Peace Circles and delivered five days of facilitation training in Bougainville in May, in preparation for a referendum on independence from Papua New Guinea in 2019.
